Archive of Brian Eno interviews and articles

I was introduced to Brian Eno’s music, in part, because of an interview he did in Oui magazine. It was a slightly racier Playboy. I was a teenager, then about 15. I was one of the mags that I found in two boxes of old magazines that someone had put by the curb for the trash. Took two trips home on the bike. I read the articles, and sure, I looked at the pictures, too because of course I did.

I was already into electronic music and Eno was a pioneer in the genre. I’ve still never made a proper jump into the Roxy Music rabbit hole. I think he mentioned in the article that he owned some ridiculous numberi, like 50 tape recorders that he used in his work. He’s still an interesting musician and I always enjoy reading articles about him.

He contributed this piece to the soundtrack to a kind of weird take on Dune done by David Lynch in 1984. It happened to open on my birthday - as a birthday present from the universe it was worth the opening night ticket. It featured Sting ias Feyd Rautha, a really young Kyle MacLachlan as Paul. Brad Dourif as Piter De Vries kind of presaged his later role as Grima Wormtongue in the Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. It even had Patrick Stewart as Gurney Hallack.
