Spiritveghead Tek (Part 4)
Conclusion
If you have made it this far, congratulations! After all your hard work, patience, and dedication, you now have the skills and knowledge to manifest the spirit molecule on this plane of existence anytime you wish. By taking the time to learn this process, you now hold the fluffy white ticket to enter through the gates of the universe. You can visit deep parts of a universal consciousness that sadly, most people will never know exists. With that being said, it means that you have an obligation to respect the molecule just as you would any other thing living on this dirt ball we call Earth. The spice is a gift from the universe and mother nature and it’s not to be exploited for monetary or materialistic gains. It’s meant to be shared with friends and family. It’s meant to be explored and bring us closer together! To expand our ideas and understanding of what it means to be human on this planet. The places you will travel to and the things you will see, have never been seen before and won’t be seen again. It’s a very personal experience and it will always return the love and respect that you have given it. This molecule isn’t a drug, it’s a visionary lens into what is possible. It can help us humans through many mental and idealistic challenges we face today. It’s here to show us our infinite potential as brothers and sisters and it does so in a beautiful way that is indescribable. After all my personal experiences, I couldn’t imagine keeping this process a secret to myself. I encourage you to share what you have learned with others. Friends or family, anyone with good intentions that is willing to learn, be that brother or sister that extends a helping hand in guiding others to this amazing experience that is our right as humans on this Earth.
FAQ section
This section will cover frequently asked questions and alternatives to the Tek above. All of the answers to these questions are based on my own experience and aren’t the only options out there. I encourage everyone to take the time to research and look for their own answers and solutions. The truth is that I don’t have all the answers, After years of engagement with this subject and process, I myself still learn new things every day. There are many ways to skin a cat so to speak and every day new discoveries and processes are being discovered. Exploring options and talking with the community, is the best way to gain new insights on this subject. Sharing new ideas and asking questions is how we all, as a community, get better at this craft. lets get started.
Q: What is the benefit of using Blockquotes for Q&A?
A: It creates a visual indent that makes it easy for the reader to skim through multiple questions on a single page.
Q1) I cant find Naphtha. What other solvents can I use?
A: There are many types of solvents out there that will work. You may live in a country that doesn’t sell Naphtha or it is illegal. In this case, below are a few options that might be available to you.
Bunnings or diggers Shellite) This is an Australian form of Naphtha. It has been used successfully for many extractions. The only concern using this solvent Is that it comes in a plastic “PET” rated bottle. This was pointed out by another mod by the name of u/clobwobbler. As mentioned above, Naphtha shouldn’t come in contact with plastic that isn’t solvent rated. If Naphtha comes in contact with plastic that isn’t solvent rated, It can leech Phthalates. What are Phthalates? They are primarily used to soften and improve the flexibility and durability of plastic containers such as water bottles. So if they are used in water bottles, what’s the issue? Phthalates have been found to be endocrine disruptors in the human body meaning, they may disrupt several hormonal systems in the human body. Some Phthalates have even been scientifically linked to breast cancer as well as other health issues. If your solvent comes in a plastic bottle that isn’t PTFE or HDPE rated you might be risking Phthalates in your final product. Be careful using solvents in plastic. With this knowledge, I’d avoid plastic water bottles as well. Here is a study on the issue.
Hexane or Bestine) Both will work for extracting and purifying. It’s sold as rubber cement remover at hobby stores. The issue with hexane is that it tends to be more expensive then Naphtha. Another thing about hexane, is that it doesn’t work to well at room temp. You will have to use a heat bath to keep the solvent warm during the extraction process. This can lead to your final product being more yellow than white. However, it is another option that might be available in your country.
Xylene or Toluene) Both of them will work for extracting. However, it’s important to know that both solvents tend to pull other alkaloids from the bark, not just the spice. If you must use these solvents you will have to perform a Re-x using Hexane or Naphtha to clean up your product. Another thing to note about these solvents is that you cannot freeze precipitate with them. You will have to allow the solvents to naturally evaporate to retrieve your crystals. They both, can take a few days to fully evaporate.
Heptane) Is another great solvent to use in place of Naphtha. It’s clean and will give you some nice white crystals. Heptane is also great to use for Re-x. There are hit and miss stories about how well Heptane works at room temps. There is a variable, what is your room temp? personally I’ve found Heptane below 65 degrees F. to be less efficient at pulling spice from the bark. I prefer to leave my Heptane in a warm bedroom before use. I currently have no definite answer on the exact degree at which point heptane becomes insufficient at pulling spice. If anyone has any answers on this please message me.
Q2) Can I use a spoon to mix my layers instead of swirling the jar?
A: I do NOT recommend using a spoon for your mixing process. Every time you remove the lid to your jar, your solvent will begin to evaporate. Mixing with a metal spoon can result in accidently mixing too hard and cracking your jar. Mixing with a wooden spoon isn’t recommend because your solvent will start to absorb into your spoon. Using a spoon to mix almost always results in emulsions. If you cant lift the jar to swirl, just allow the jar to rest on a countertop or table while moving it in a circular motion.
Q3) How much ingredients would I use for 50g of bark or 200g of bark?
A: If you’re using half the bark, you would cut all of the ingredients in half. If your using double the bark then you would double the ingredients.
Q4) Is it okay to leave my Naphtha in the jar longer then 24hrs if I’m at work?
A: Yes. Your solvent will be safe in the jar until you’re ready to pull it. It wont effect your extraction.
Q4) Can I mix more if I want?
A: There is no need to mix more. Over mixing is a good way to get emulsions. The Lye needs time to release the spice from the bark. Just because your layers have separated after 10 minutes doesn’t mean you need to mix. Waiting 3 to 4 hours in between mixes allows the Lye to break down the bark and release the spice. A mix is a step that we do to collect the spice that has been released. Mixing more often will do nothing to increase your yield. Yield is determined by bark quality and nothing else. Conduct your mixes properly and thoroughly and you will have a great yield. Remember that you will pull until nothing remains. Over mixing is pointless.
Q5) If I mix less will it effect my Yield?
A: The only issue with under mixing is that the solvent doesn’t get enough time in the base to fully absorb the spice that has been released. Yes, under mixing will result in a lower yield; however, you are still conducting as many pulls as needed until nothing precipitates in your freezer dish. Under mixing means that you will have to conduct more pulls in order to retrieve all your spice.
Q6) Is it okay if my dish remains in the freezer longer then 24 hours?
A: Yes. Your dish can stay in the freezer until you’re ready to retrieve your crystals.
Q7) I left my crystals in a warm room or hot car and they melted. Are they still good?
A: Yes. If your crystals melted because you left them in a place that was to warm, you can re-dissolve them in fresh Naphtha or Heptane and then precipitate them in your freezer again. Its the same process as a Re-x.
Q8) My extraction jar is full and I can’t mix. What do I do?
A: It’s very important to make sure that your jar can hold all of your ingredients before doing the extraction. However, if you made the mistake, you can always get bigger jar and pour everything into it. If you don’t have a bigger jar, you can get a second jar and pour half of the base into it, then conduct the extraction in two jars. That would mean you would use 75ml of Naphtha per jar. Please make sure you avoid this situation and have the proper equipment before starting.
Q9) Can I keep my jar outside or in my garage?
A: It depends on the temps. If your jar gets to cold during the extraction then the solvent will have a hard time absorbing the spice, resulting in a smaller first pull. As I mentioned above, if your Naphtha gets below 65 degrees, you will start to notice crystals prematurely precipitating out of your solvent. This means that your solvent is to cold to hold the spice. This is why we put our solvent in the freezer. The cold temps make the spice precipitate out of the solvent so we can collect it. If your basement or outside temps drop below 60 degrees F, then you will need to keep it in a warmer climate. I do all of my extractions inside where the average temp is about 70 degrees. If you live in a cold climate then I recommend building a dub tub.
Q10) I followed your Tek to the T and my spice is still yellow. What did I do wrong?
A: If the spice is more yellow in color that’s okay. Some actually prefer yellow spice and that’s why they use heat. Your spice could be more yellow if your temps weren’t right. Even a degree or two off can effect the final outcome. Performing a re-x will help to make it more white. Chances are you did nothing wrong and the bark used just so happen to have a more yellow spice. You have to remember that your bark has come from a tree. No batch of bark is the same and no tree is the same. Each tree can be going through its own variables and growing conditions. All of these can effect the fruit it bares so to speak. Another factor is how the bark was processed and stored before it ended up in your hands. This Tek will for the most part give you fluffy white crystals but occasionally even I get a slightly yellow batch.
Q11) Can I mix my lye water and bark with a metal spoon instead of a wooden spoon?
A: I don’t recommend it. If you mix your bark and lye too hard, the metal spoon can crack your jar. The extraction will be over before it even started.
Q12) How do I dispose of the base after extraction?
A: Remove the lid on your jar and allow any remaining solvent to evaporate. Once the solvent is gone you can flush the remaining base. The base is nothing more the biodegradable bark and drain cleaner. Most bottles of lye will say not to use in toilets and that is because the lye reaction can shatter Porcelain. However, since the lye reaction is far from over, its okay to flush. You flush worse things every day. Just make sure to flush your toilet a few times to make sure no drain cleaner remains in the bowl. The lye can eat at the polished enamel in your toilet so you want to make sure you give it at least 4 flushes. The extraction jar will clean up very easy with warm water and soap.
Q13) Should I use vinegar to neutralize my lye before pouring it down the toilet?
A: Using Vinegar is not really necessary. We all have heard that you’re supposed to use vinegar to clean up a lye spill to neutralize the lye. However, when I look at the back of my bottle of lye it mentions nothing of using vinegar to clean up a spill. Labels can be wrong though so I did some more digging and found that using vinegar to clean up lye has a lot of potential for harm. Adding vinegar to lye causes another chemical reaction that generates a lot of heat. This is the last thing you want to add to a chemical burn on your skin. If you’re using it to clean up a spill it could effect the surface it spilled on as well. Another thing to note is how much vinegar it takes to Neutralize Lye. You need about 28 grams of vinegar to Neutralize 1 gram of Lye. Water flushing is what is recommended per the SDS sheet and I personally trust that more. Google “Vinegar to clean up a lye spill” and yo’ll see what I mean. Flush your toilet 3 or 4 times and you wont have anything to worry about.

Thank you all once again for the love, support and patience. Soon as the video is ready you will know and as always, if you have any questions, feel free to shoot me a DM. As I receive more questions from you, I will continue to update the FAQ section to keep it current. Best wishes and safe travels to you all!
heat for heptane? i’m pretty sure someone posted great results with using heptane in your tek. it was hoping to avoid heat baths myself but heptane was more straightforward to get than naphtha
Can i cover the erlenmeyer flask with anything or does it need to be airtight ? i bought one without a lid/stopper, does it need to be glass?
So you can get great results with room temp heptane but in my experience it’s best if it’s on the warmer side. You dont need to do heat baths. Just make sure its not to cold. Leaving it in a warm bedroom will do just fine.
As for the flask I recommend a glass stopper just be a use most plastics aren’t what they are listed as. If your stopper is PTFE rated or HDPE rated it will be fine.
If you don’t have a stopper you can just use the bag and rubber band listed in the tek.
also yes it needs to be air tight because Naphtha evaporates when it comes in contact with air. If you use a beg and rubber band it will allow pressure to escape but not let air in.
If one were to use Heptane, what would be the heating cycle? Just put it in the crock pot water bath on low throughout the 24 hour process of swirling every 3 hours?
No that would be to much heat. I’m going to fix that part in the FAQ. I just meant it needs to be a bit warmer then room temp for best results. I’ll usually keep mine in a warm bedroom or grow room for a bit just to get it slightly warmer.
I’m curious to know how long it takes (roughly) to let the lye water cool to room temp?
Also, I see that one can purchase “Lye Water” (seems odd), and wondered if you’d explored that and if it made any difference. I know you like to be part of all of the steps, so you might not even consider it.
Yeah heat can turn your extraction vessel into a bomb if you’re not paying attention. We have all seen what that looks like and it’s a big mess.
The lye water on its own usually can take a few hours to cool however you can always place a glass plate over the cooling lye water and place it in a fridge or freezer to speed up the cooling process. Doing it like that will cool your water in about an hour.
As for the pre mixed lye water I hadn’t even heard of that so thanks for sharing! I’ll do some test on it and get back to you all with what I find. I guess my only concern would be what type of container it comes in and if it’s at the right ph for extracting as is.

Great FAQ so far! Perhaps you could add to Q12 that if anyone is nervous about pouring the bark soup in the toilet, they can neutralize the mixture simply by adding household vinegar before pouring down the drain…Not sure how much would be needed for the volume of soup in this tek?
So I didn’t add the vinegar because after reading into that topic it turns out it’s kinda impractical. Vinegar does neutralize lye however it takes almost double the amount of it to do so. So you really need a lot of vinegar for that to work. Also adding acid to lye causes a chemical reaction that produces a lot of heat which could cause issues maybe even possibly Crack the toilet. That’s why I didn’t add that however I will add this information. Thank you! Here’s an article on what I’m talking about.
Also, lye is literally drain cleaner so you would just be cleaning the pipes anyway. Why neutralize and have no effect when you can have the bonus effect of cleaner drains!
Greetings! I plan to do your tek soon and had a question that I didn’t see asked on any of your posts (unless i missed it) would it be possible to swap out lye for vinegar? Or any other option instead of using lye? Something about poison being on the label for lye just gives me strange vibes haha thanks in advance!
Using lye will be fine because you will do clean up steps after extraction. As for getting rid of the lye all together idk if it’s as simple as that. You need to get the base to a ph level of 14 to be able to extract as far as I know. I have recently heard people mention the base only needs to be a ph of 12 to extract however I haven’t tested that myself so I can’t speak to the accuracy of those claims.
Also it’s worth noting that vinegar is only a ph of 3 it’s acidic and your trying to reach an alkaline state of 12 to 14. I don’t think vinegar would be strong enough to get it up to where it needs to be.
People have been extracting with lye and naphtha longer then we have even been alive. And there are still, no recorded deaths by spice. You will be fine. I wouldn’t have shared this information to begin with if it was going to poison people. Just be sure to conduct your clean up steps and don’t rush. Also please use your safety gear! It’s the most important of all your lab supplies. One of my followers recently sent me a message from the hospital because lye splashed in his eye so he had to get it flushed out. Don’t do a thing until you have safety glasses gloves and a mask. Very important.
Thank you for the support! Maybe you could help me with another question I have, i recently posted on r/dmtguide asking about a specific Lye and if itd pass to be used in your tek. This lye is in bead form and i’ve added the SDS info in the post with it. If you could check it out i’d greatly appreciate it!!💗🧀
Do I need to let the naphtha dry on the first pull to re-x
Yes because you don’t want any impurities in the first pull solvent to carry over into the fresh solvent that is ment to clean the spice. Allow the crystals fully dry and the first pull solvent to fully evaporate then dissolve the dried crystals in fresh Naphtha or heptane.
For extracting the naphtha layer, is using a plastic pipette okay or should I source a glass one?
No plastic is to be used. solvent will melt plastic and transfer to your final product. Please look at the supplies list in part 2. It contains product links to the things you need.
What’s an emulsion look like, and what to do if you get an emulsion?
Which step/part should I make sure my dog is somewhere else? Also, is it the Naptha or the lye that creates the most odor?
The naphtha 100% is the most smelly. However if you’re in a village ventilated area like by a kitchen window with the fan running g you will be good to go. Your puppers will be fine. Just don’t let him drink it lol.
How do you dispose of the Naphtha? Also refreezing all the used naphtha does it yield more spice (ie lower temperature longer freeze time?? Can the naphtha be reused for its original purpose? (Recycled) What if the naphtha touches the plastic foil top? (Do we stop and bin everything) Any alternative jars that do not require plastic foil for a cover? (I understand the part about not building up pressure, but how would a professional chemist go about this process? And if you are using magnetic stir bar do you still need to stir for 24h every 3h? Or can you stir on low speed for 12h straight for example?
Thank you so much for taking the time to do all this. It answers so many of the questions i had after doing my first extraction. It takes a lot for me to understand written instruction, i still have no idea how i made it through college, but i understand the way you organize and write, so again, thank you!!!! 🕉💜
Wonderfully designed tek! Looking forward to trying it out myself! I have one question tho.. doubling the ingredients for bigger amounts of bark, for example if i used 200g of bark, would i double all the ingredients in the tek including the amount of water used?
Yes. This topic is covered in question 3. I recommend keeping your extractions small and controlled though. 100g of bark per jar.
Some methods I’ve used and seen before , had me heat up my root bark in water in a crock pot . And then also put my jars in a hot water bath . I didn’t see that In your extraction process , is this necessary ? Or no ?
Thank you for your advice 🙌 Just wondering if room temp is below 70°f will this affect the mix? Would it be beneficial to use a heat bath during this period of mixing and settling? 🤔 Thanks again!
in the guide, the picture where you’re about to seperate into freeze dish, what’s the dark layer on top of the naptha and what do u do about it? i have it in mine and i see it in that picture too
Could you link the timer you use for your magnetic stir plate or another plug that would work. All Im finding is timers that measure in hours not minutes. Thank you so much in advance. :)
Hello. Having trouble finding Naphtha in France. Anyone out there tried using Essence C or know of another solvent available in France to replace Naphtha for this tek? Thanks
I see how to dispose of the base. With the leftover naphtha after the pull, do you recommend keeping it for future use? Or is there a way to safely dispose of it?
When recrystalizing, is it possible to pour the naphtha thru a coffee filter to get the unnecessary junk out on its way to the glass dish?
No. If you have base in your naphtha you 100% need to re-x. Part 3 will explain. If you have any other questions let me know! Best wishes🌈❄
Should I get a PH strip? What PH should I test at? At what point during the tek should I test the PH? Do I just stick it in the base?
So if hot base breaks down plant fats would cooling the base solution in refrigerator before adding to the root make cleaner spice?
I think I may have worded that wrong. I’m referring to step 7 in the Re-x process.
Well the first way is to just not get them. Don’t over mix and don’t mix to hard. Once you get emulsions sometimes you can add some vibration to the jar. Smothers add a bit of table salt. These methods sometimes work and other times the emulsions are to bad to get any separation In the layers
when I mixed in the solvent after waiting for the mix to turn black it seems almost impossible to get it to mix I mixed very hard and it would not mix together it stayed completely separated. can I add more lye to the mixture with solvent in it already? or maybe add small amounts of heat to get it to loosen up and mix? the solvent is still perfectly clear no yellowing I feel as if nothing is coming out.
