Aphantasia
Each of us live in differnt worlds. In a thread on a neurodivergence feed, there was a conversation about aphantasia. There were two groups: one couldn’t believe everyone didn’t have the ability to see pictures, the others couldn’t believe others could vividly visualize things. Despite not having a strong visual sense, I can design things in my mind that I later build with wood, for instance. It’s not making it up as I go, I’ve already done the design and built it in my mind a few times.
This has some consequences for hypnosis, which counts a lot on being able to visualize things.
I do have a strong sense for sound and music. I nearly always have music going in my mind, usually a fragment of a song, looped over and over. If you see me walking around you might notice my fingers moving around a lot, or me tapping my fingers in some distinctive ways. Inside my mind, each finger has its own drum sound and I am usually walking in time to the music.
