I’m quite a lot older than I want to be, I see those around my age tell me that music is shit now, for the most part, popular music, it’s not awesome, to my taste, however, to say it’s all crap is fucking bullshit, lazy and wrong.

I’ve found several artists that I greatly admire, consider their music as compelling, unique and fun as anything I’ve ever heard, I love listening to their work, it’s exciting, and gives me hope that the good stuff never ends, you just have to dig a bit deeper, and that’s ok.

Chelsea Wolfe, I was late to the party on this amazing artist, heard her cover of ‘Oui, Oui Marie’ found it instantly outstanding, one of my favorite tracks in the past decade, I went through her back catalogue and was blown away, fuck, so good. Instant, lifelong fan, Goth, Metal, and some Lana Del Ray vibes, this is for me.

Allie X is a Canadian Pop/ Dance singer with a witty, brutal edge, I love her work, consistently inventive, ‘Off with her Tits’ reminds me of the best of the wondrous 80’s, great production, her lyrics, jaw dropping, provocative and fuck you all at once, damn, I love her. That track is a work of genius, as good as shock pop gets.

Lili Refrain is an Italian performer, plays so many instruments, has an otherworldly voice and presence, those who love Lisa Gerrard need to embrace this new artist, so much promise, exciting, emotional, so very beautiful,eerie, hypnotic, plus metal, it’s glorious work, instant fan. Start with Mana album.

Then Heilung, I know now I will never get to see them live, I’m heartbroken, because their work really speaks to me, calling up the European ancient ancestors, both celebratory and reverential, I feel my Dartmoor, Excalibur roots calling, plus it’s great to work to, I feel this music from my feet to my head, utterly real and meaningful. #chelseawolfe #alliex #lilirefrain #heilung @lilirefrain @cchelseawwolfe @alliex @amplifiedhistory
