Rhythmetrix macrodosing event

Arrived this afternoon, rode with Tony, who had been at the event in the spring. We’re near Leadville, which is up in the mountains in/near summit county. We’re at about 10,000 feet.

I’m not used to being at this altitude, in fact i can’t remember the last time I was up this high.

We set up camp. I brought my hammock chair but unfortunately forgot the wooden bar, so it’s useless to me. I didn’t think to bring my hammock but i suspect if i tried to actually sleep outside the bugs would be an issue.

We had a meet and greet session where we introduced ourselves around. It’s all men except for two women so far. There will be another named Briona who will be the mental health support for the group in case some psychological issues come up.

First time around the circle we shared who we were, how we came to be interested in drumming and psychedelics. Second time around we shared some “bad” experience we’d had on mushrooms. When it came to my turn, I shared about the sorted party where i went with John and Jeff from work. I ended up tearing up while talking about the end where i wanted to go home. I honestly can’t remember exactly what triggered, but i ended up at Jeff & Mr John’s apartment and ranting for about 4 hours. i said I realized i have stories and that I feel i have limited time to tell them.

We had a break and then gathered around the firepit to drum. It started raining after a little bit. Most of the drums that were playing were water-resistent remos, but my drum had a natural goatskin head and we had to put that away. We gathered under the pavilion and drummed for a bit until the rain stopped, so we went back outside.

Drumming with this group is quite different from the drumming i usually run into at the pagan circles. For one thing it isn’t all djembes - it’s a much more bass-ish drum heavy mix, and there is a good amount of percussion.

Tomorrow we will have two sessions, one in the morning, one in the afternoon and then the mushroom session at about 5. Max has pegged me as someone who wants a large dose. It’ll be interesting to see how this goes tomorrow.

I am typing on my computer in my tent using a milk crate as a desk. can’t get away. It’s not even 11:00 and everyone has retired to their tents. It’l be a long day tomorrow, i should go to sleep.

The place we are camping is right next to a creek. I can hear the water rushing by from my tent.
